Mold Steel Data Sheet-from Deep Mould

The tips from a concept to a real plastic part.

If you want to make your idea to a real plastic part,you need to think about to make it with a plastic mold. And you want to proceed with this kinds of mold,you need to do a reasearch with the goal market.

How much parts you can sell to the clients? Then you can keep in mind how is the mold life need to be with your new plastic mold project.

There are 5 level of mold life. The main difference is the steel and design details.

1> Level 101 (SPI-SPE  More than 1 million shots,long time of production with precision molds)

Cavity and core steel consider: Groditz 1.2343/1.2344/1.2083,this kinds of steel need to be heat treatment to have a high hardsness as HRC 50-54,this kind of steel,price are high,you need to be sure this steel is import steel and ask your supplier with steel certificates.

Moldbase Steel: Need to be HRC28-32 at least,the steel can choose 1.2311/1.2312

2> Level 102 (SPI-SPE  from 500,000 to 1 million shots,but also big production with plastic injection molds)

Cavity and core steel consider: LKM H13,this kinds of steel need to be heat treatment to have a high hardsness as HRC 46-50.

Moldbase Steel: Need to be HRC28-32 at least,the steel can choose 1.2311/1.2312

3> Level 103 (SPI-SPE  Less than 500,000 shots,medium production with plastic injection molds)

Cavity and core steel consider: LKM 738H/DAIDO NAK80 ,this is pre-hardend steel,no need heat treatment.

Moldbase Steel: Can be around HRC16 ,the steel can choose 45#,it is the same as 1.1730 steel.

4> Level 104 (SPI-SPE  Less than 10,000shots, low production injection molds)

Cavity and core steel consider: P20/1.1730 ,this is soft steel,price is cheap

Moldbase Steel: The part can cut direct in A/B plate,it means the steel can save cost.

5> Level 105 (Less than 500,the first prototype mold)

You could consider to use Alunium for mold making.
